The event is open to all Scout and Guide members aged 10 and over. The Challenge can be completed over one or two days and is a guided walk with written instructions to get outside and enjoy the countryside. We have a tuck shop on route and checkpoints to provide first aid and water.We encourage you to walk in teams of 4 to 10 people. Teams with members under 12 years old must have an adult walker. Before the event Please complete the further information online and ensure all parents have completed the details on EMS, this will greatly speed up your time signing in. Ensure you submit you NAN to your district. Teams are strongly advised to work up their training schedules such that they are competent in walking and carrying such loads, many walkers drop out simply through lack of stamina and not wearing their boots in. Arriving / Parking There is free of charge parking at XXXXXXXXXXXXx. At the start we are using a public car park and charges apply. Signing in will be available on Friday evening from 8:00pm – 9:00pm at the camp site and on Saturday from 7.30am – 9:00am at the start. The Event Walking will start from 8:00am on Saturday and will cease by 7:30pm on Saturday. However teams will not be permitted to pass the campsite after 3.00pm. Equipment On Saturday camping equipment and personal kit can be taken to the camp site from the start and stored undercover at the campsite. It must be clearly marked with person’s name/ team number/ scout groups name. Please make it clear when booking in that you have equipment to be transported. The admin team will advise you where to leave it. (The organisers take no responsibility for loss or damage to equipment.) Transport Transport can be booked in advance to be taken from the campsite to the start on Saturday morning, transport will leave at 6:45am. (We would prefer you use this option). The campsite is at XXXXXXXXXXXXX. If you wish to set up your camping equipment before the walk the campsite will be open from 4.00pm-9.00pm on Friday or at any time from 8.00am on Saturday. On arrival at the campsite please do not pitch any tents/ equipment without first consulting with one of the organising committee as to where you should pitch, your help in this matter is much appreciated. All vehicles must be parked in the designated car park. For all helpers on site please ensure you sign in at admin and collect your wrist band. Please do this on arrival, as anyone on site without a wrist band may be asked to leave the site. Walking Please wear appropriate shoes (Walking shoes or walking boots) and ensure you carry plenty of water and sun cream. In places the route is very overgrown so long trousers may be advisable. Tags will be collected at the end of Saturday and re- issued on Sunday between 7:30am – 9am, however you will not be allowed to start walking or pass through any checkpoints before 8:00am you will be given a start time for Sunday morning based on your speed on Saturday. If you or a member of your team retires during the walk administration must be informed and you must be collected by Coast -2- Coast transport. Food Ordered food, will be available from 5.30pm on Saturday evening and from 7.00am Sunday morning. Food tokens will be issued when you arrive at the campsite on Saturday evening. Please ensure you bring your own plates, bowls, cups and cutlery. Don’t forget your packed lunch for Saturday and Sunday. The Finish All walkers will be transported back to the campsite from the finish we expect teams to be ready to be collected between 2pm and 5pm. You will need to make arrangements for your team/s to be collected from the campsite, parents must not go to the Finish. Badges and certificates will be given out when you arrive back at the campsite on Saturday / Sunday. Don’t Forget to check www.midcornwallscouts.org.uk/events for updates KIT TO BE CARRIED BY EACH TEAM 2025 Compulsory kit Per Team:- First Aid Kit, Mobile Phone, Sun Cream, Foil blanket or survival bag Per Member :- Waterproofs, Warm clothing, Water Bottle (750ml minimum), Packed lunch, Trainers or walking shoes, Hi Viz Jacket Suggested kit Per Member: – Sun Hat, Scout Knecker, Tuck money, Ruck sack, ALL the equipment and clothing listed in the compulsory section above will be checked by the Scrutineers on Saturday morning before you can register for the event and is liable to be checked at any time during the event by Scrutineers.
