District Team & Executive Committee

There are many volunteer roles within the Scouts which support the smooth running of a Scout Group and District. Some of these roles are uniformed and some are support functions, all equally important to support the young people who come to our groups every week. These roles form our District Team and District Executive Committee.

District Commissioner

James McIntyre

The role of the District Commission (DC) is to manage and support the Scout District to ensure it runs effectively and that Scouting within the District develops in accordance with the rules and policies of The Scout Association so that that the District provides good quality Scouting for young people and proactively supports and manages adults in the District.

Deputy District Commissioner

Shaun Wakeham

The role of the Deputy District Commission (DDC) is to support the District Commissioner in managing and supporting the Scout District to ensure it runs effectively and that Scouting within the District develops in accordance with the rules and policies of The Scout Association so that that the District provides good quality Scouting for young people and proactively supports and manages adults in the District.

District Chair

John Rickard

The Chair will lead the Executive Committee, ensuring that it fulfils its responsibilities within the District. The Chair will work closely with the District Commissioner to achieve the purpose of The Scout Association through the development of local Scouting, in accordance with the Policy, Organisation and Rules of The Scout Association.

Assistant District Commissioner

To work in partnership with District Commissioner to ensure that effective operation of the District in accordance with the rules as laid down in POR of The Scout Association.

District Youth Commissioner

As a member of the District Leadership Team the District Youth Commissioner works in partnership with the District Commissioner and Chairperson of the District Executive Committee. The role is to ensure that young people from 6-25 years are involved and engaged in every decision that shapes their Scouting experience locally and to empower young people to share their ideas and have a meaningful voice in planning, implementing and reviewing their programme and opportunities.

District Explorer Scout Commissioner

The District Explorer Scout Commissioner is the Manager of the Explorer Scout Section. They are responsible for its effective operation of the developing of quality Explorer Scouting in the District in accordance with the Purpose, Principles and Policies of The Scout Association. This may be with the help of District Explorer Scout Administrators, District Explorer Scout Leaders and Explorer Scout Leader (Young Leaders) as appropriate. Some of the tasks for which the Explorer Scout Leader is responsible may be delegated to others in the District, including Explorer Scout Leaders, Assistant Explorer Scout Leaders and Section Assistants.

District Secretary

The Secretary will support the Chair of the Executive Committee to ensure the smooth functioning and sound administration of the District in accordance with the Policy, Organisation and Rules of The Scout Association.

District Treasurer

Ross Geach

The Treasurer will provide sound financial administration, support and information to the Executive Committee in accordance with the Policy, Organisation and Rules of The Scout Association.

District Trustee

Executive Committee members contribute to the running of the District, by providing administrative support, strategic direction, compliance with relevant legislation and completion of the duties set out in The Scout Association’s Policy, Organisation and Rules.
